Kelsey Creek Medical Clinic

Kelsey Creek Medical Clinic is headed by Dr. David Betat. He treats acute and chronic illnesses, provides preventive care and health education for all ages and both sexes. He is board-certified in family medicine and focuses on treating individuals throughout all of their life stages. Family physicians see anyone with any problem, but are experts in common problems. Family physicians complete undergraduate school, medical school, and three more years of specialized medical residency training in Family Medicine. Dr. Betat elected to do further sub-specialty training, i.e. a fellowship, after completing his residency training.

Dr. Charles Millar, DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine), joins the Clinic on Monday mornings. Dr. Millar practices a field of healthcare that is devoted to the study and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and sometimes knee, leg, and hip (collectively known as the lower extremity). His education consisted of a doctoral level four-year program followed by a two- or three-year residency. Like regular Medical School, this training followed his college degree. Dr. Millar elected to do further sub-specialty training, i.e. a fellowship, after completing his residency training.

Nurse Practitioner Carol Meyer, FNP, is a registered nurse who has completed advanced nursing education and training in the diagnosis and management of common medical conditions, including chronic illnesses. She provides basic, non-emergent care and collaborates with Dr. Betat. Ms. Meyer is licensed by the state of California, and has a board certification in family medicine. She treats both acute and chronic conditions and prescribes medications and therapies for the Clinic's patients. Requirements for a registered nurse include a 2-year associate degree in nursing, as well as direct patient care for acutely or chronically ill patients. A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) designation requires an additional 4 years of study from an accredited 4-year masters program.

Ms. Miriam Pena, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing behavioral health support on Monday afternoons. Social workers in the area of mental health assess and support, and sometimes diagnose and treat, individuals with mental health problems. State licensing boards and national certification boards require clinical social workers to have a masters or doctoral degree from a university. The doctorate in social work requires submission of a major original contribution to the field in order to be awarded the degree. Ms. Pena holds a graduate degree in social work.

The entire team at Kelsey Creek Medical Clinic combine their expertise to make sure you receive the care you need.
